Linus and Lucy (Orange) Small 2 lo res

This is day 12 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge issued by artist Leslie Saeta. Or I guess it should read 28 paintings in 28 days, since it’s February.  But that doesn’t have quite the same ring.

I’ve been working on a series of jazz themed works based on listening to the happy, rollicking rendition of Linus and Lucy, the theme song of Peanuts, the movie, by the Vince Guaraldi Trio.

Day 8 of  #30paintingsin30days.  Or Art Quilts, in my case.

This is a small version of Linus and Lucy Blue.  These 6 x 8″ framed art quilts are popular items in the art fairs I do, as well as gift shops around town.  I’m continuing with the series — listening to Linus and Lucy by the Vince Guaraldi Trio.

I will be submitting work to two art shows to be held in conjunction with the annual Berks Jazz Festival in April. This one is inspired by the happy theme from the Peanuts movie, Linus and Lucy. I was listening to the Vince Guaraldi Trio jazz version at the time.

I signed up for Leslie Saeta’s 30 for 30 challenge which she is holding in February this year.

I’m tweaking the challenge a little.

Since the challenge is meant to be 30 painting in 30 days, But I’m making Art Quilts. So that’s a big fat tweak right there.

And I’m going away for a chunk of February, so I started making my quilts for the challenge this month, in January.

My theme is to do work I need to get done! Not too sexy I guess. I have a one person show in June, for which I’ll need about 14 pieces. I want them all to be new — made in 2018.

And I’m entering work in two jazz themed shows in April. So I want to get that work done too.

Our first art fair is in May this year, so I’ll want to make a number of small pieces for that. So here is some work in progress. Stay tuned!  I’ll be posting every day in February.Work in progress Jan 18
